Greens Senator Nick McKim has said he “makes no apologies for holding the CEOs of giant corporations to account” after an explosive clash with Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci at Tuesday’s Senate Inquiry into supermarket prices.

Greens Senator Nick McKim not afraid to threaten CEOs with jail time if they don't comply with Senate committee inquiries

Later on Tuesday, the Greens Senator held a press conference in which he doubled down on his fiery comments and insistent interrogation.“If that includes threatening them with jail time for not answering simple questions at Senate committee inquiries, so be it,” Mr McKim said. Senator McKim pointed to the fact Australian supermarkets were outperforming “other supermarkets in similar jurisdictions” during his press conference.

Generally, return on equity is used to measure management effectiveness, given equity takes into account the shareholder value of the company. “It’s not acceptable for a CEO of a major corporation to insult the senate and by extension insult the Australian people by refusing to answer simple questions about the profitability of their company,” he said at the press conference.
