The senators’ visit to Ukraine follows failed diplomatic talks in Geneva and Vienna last week involving the US, NATO and Russian officials over Putin’s demand for security guarantees that Ukraine and other former Soviet bloc states will not be allowed to join the alliance. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said the US and its NATO allies are poised to take action if Russia launches an invasion.
