The 2021 Senior Australian of the Year Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr Baumann has urged people to visit indigenous communities around the country and to understand their ancient culture.
Dr Ungunmerr said she was very excited to win the award, telling Sky News it’s an amazing honour.
“I’m putting an invitation to whoever wants to come and sit on country and meet and talk and understand us better,” she said. “It’s your turn to meet us and get to know us better.”
