Housing Minister Clare O’Neil has made a startling admission about the government’s policies, acknowledging Labor wants property prices to increase as many Aussies struggle to break into the market.

A senior Labor Minister has made a startling admission about the government's housing policy as millions of Aussies struggle to break into the market.

“So we’re not trying to bring down house prices, but we don’t want to see some of the growth that we’ve seen in some parts of the country where you’re getting double digit increases in house prices year on year,” Ms O’Neil said. She called for sustainable price growth, more houses entering the market and the rental vacancy rate increasing to relieve pressure on renters, but Marchese remained baffled.
