NRLW: Jo Barrett looked at some of the stars for the Brisbane Broncos, including new recruit Stacey Waaka.
Two club bosses have urged the NRL to purchase it’s own plane for players to travel in as the game’s powerbrokers prepare to expand the competition into Perth and Papua New Guinea .
With expansion looming into Western Australia and across the pacific, Reibell was of the belief the NRL needs to take a leaf out of American sporting organisation’s books.NBA, NFL and MLB bosses transport teams across the United States in organisation-owned aircrafts regularly, and Reibel believes the move would be a “wonderful idea”.
“As the game disperses truly nationally and internationally with the Warriors and potentially more, it’s a smart thing to also look at how we get our athletes to and from the games,” Reibel said. “From our perspective, the Warriors travel the most and we travel the second most. If there’s a 7.30pm game in Sydney, we’re lucky to be home by 2pm or 3pm the next day.“The only way we better that is by taking a 6am flight the next day, which is not great from a high-performance perspective.
