The death toll on New South Wales roads hit seven over the Easter long weekend, as more than 4,500 drivers across the state were slapped with fines in a police clampdown.

A 17-year-old boy became the seventh person to die since the operation began on Thursday, after a car he was travelling in slammed into a power pole following a police pursuit in Sutherland, in Sydney's south.
