Exclusive: Seven West Media puts hand out for JobKeeper in bid to save media jobs
before withdrawing its ASX revenue guidance for 2020 citing a fall in the advertising market and loss of key sporting events.The company employs more than 4000 staff across its divisions, which means taxpayers could be contributing millions every week to keep the company's workers, including its print and television journalists, in jobs.
In the last set of financial statements reported to the market before the onset of the pandemic, Seven West Media posted half-yearly revenue of $772 million. WA director of the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance Tiffany Venning said there was a real concern the downturn in advertising revenue could threaten the viability of trusted news sources.
