Parts of Victoria and New South Wales could be about to get hit by powerful winds being generated ahead of a cold front sweeping across the country’ southeast.

A severe weather warning has been issued for damaging winds in parts of NSW and Victoria as a fast-moving cold front sweeps across the nation’s south-eastern corner, bringing showers and colder temperatures.

Sky News Weather Presenter Nikolina Kharoufeh explained the wild weather was all due to fast-moving system which is likely to hit Adelaide this afternoon before barrelling towards Melbourne.“That front, after hitting Adelaide, will move across Victoria,” she said. Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h, with damaging wind gusts of around 100 km/h are possible from this afternoon and into the evening. Emergency crews are urging people to consider pulling off the road into a safe area in driving conditions become dangerous. Damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are likely for areas above 1500 meters from early Thursday morning. The cold front is sweeping across the southeast on Wednesday.
