Jurors heard how Kumar was recorded by the woman being confronted by her about her horror ordeal in 2020.Disgraced war hero flew into rage at woman because she was watching Love IslandKumar had earlier been found guilty of two charges of raping the woman between February 7 2012 and March 9 2020.
Singh was convicted of one rape charge - the time span for his attacks starting on New Year's Day 2012 and March 8 2020.Kumar was further guilty of the attempted rape of a second woman at another house in the town in early March 2018. Jurors also convicted Singh of sexually assaulting a third woman and sending inappropriate messages to a teenage girl.Kumar gave evidence during the trial and claimed the rape victim was"quite old, 19 or 20" when he first met her.Kumar:"When she met me, she was around 18 to 20 - a fully grown woman."Despite that, both Kumar and Singh took advantage of the woman.He was quizzed about the phone recording that the victim went on to capture.
His KC Thomas Ross KC said:"His wife is aware of the circumstances of the case and remains supportive of him." Sentencing, Judge Tony Kelly stated the rape victim was vulnerable and had been supplied with alcohol during the time she was preyed upon.Both Kumar and Singh were put on the sex offenders list indefinitely.
