BSCO jail inmate dies after being found unresponsive in cell

SAN ANTONIO — A Bexar County jail inmate died Monday morning after being found unresponsive in his cell. The deceased was a 65-year-old man who had been booked on Aug. 21 for a violation of the sex offender registration, a third-degree felony, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.Bexar County jail inmate dies after apparent medical episode in cell
The inmate was found in a life-threatening condition around 2:15 a.m. by a deputy who was conducting face-to-face observations, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary indications show that the inmate suffered a “medical episode exacerbated by preexisting medical conditions.”University Hospital medical staff arrived at the scene and performed lifesaving measures. The inmate was pronounced dead at 2:42 a.m.
