LOS ANGELES — The Giants activated Mike Yastrzemski on Wednesday before their series finale with the Dodgers, providing what a beaten-up club hopes is the first in a line of reinforcements due back in the coming days and weeks.
Those circumstances also made it somewhat surprising to see Wade back in the lineup for Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday in the seventh game of his rehab assignment, rather than joining the Giants in Los Angeles. Wade’s season debut could come as soon as Thursday, when the Giants open their home stand with the Cardinals.
La Stella and Evan Longoria are further off, but their returns are also on the horizon, after embarking on their rehab assignments Tuesday.
