Shadow Health Minister Anne Ruston has weighed in on whether imposing a mask mandate is the right thing to do, after the nation recorded more than 50,000 cases over the past 24 hour period.
Dr Kelly appeared on Sky News Australia on Wednesday where he warned COVID-19 cases are expected to peak in August as the country endures a third Omicron wave.
“What I think is incumbent on government is to explain to the Australian public why they’ve made a particular decision,” she said.“People are really good at doing things voluntarily, they understand the reasoning behind why they’re doing it. “I have asked for several briefings but this afternoon I will be officially writing to Minister Butler for a full briefing,” she said.
It comes after Victoria's Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas last week dismissed calls to mandate mask wearing in schools, childcare, retail and hospitality.
