Shadow Immigration Minister Dan Tehan fears a discussion with Labor over taxes will just “lead to more taxes”, instead of a proper debate around what Australia’s tax mix should be. “We need Labor to put that tax cap back in place and then we should have a discussion about what is the best method going forward for us to be able to officially collect tax in this country,” Mr Tehan told Sky News Australia. “If they want to have a discussion about taxes which is all about lifting taxes, we won’t be a party to that. “Let’s have a discussion about what is the most efficient and effective way to have our tax mix but it has to be with a tax cap in place.”
