Shakir Saleh Rishoodi, a refugee from Iraq, was one of 10 deaths linked to a COVID-19 outbreak at Liverpool Hospital. His daughter spent 2 hours on the phone talking and singing to her father the day before he died as she was not allowed to visit him.

A refugee from Iraq, Shakir Saleh Rishoodi came to Australia in 1999. His daughter followed a decade later."He became more isolated and reclusive ... he doesn't mingle, so we both thought we would start a group to help those in old age," she told the ABC in Arabic.

But after all her work helping her father stay active and engaged in the community, he died alone and confused from COVID-19. A staff member who had received one Pfizer vaccine worked while unknowingly infectious on the geriatric and neurology wards.Seven staff, a student nurse and 29 patients have tested positive since the first case was identified on July 24. Ten of those patients have died.
