Sharks coach Bob Boughner: “This time of year, games get tougher to win in the second half.”
SAN JOSE – Five weeks ago, the Sharks were coming off their most memorable game of the season. Timo Meier had just set a team record with a five-goal game, leading the Sharks to a 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
“There’s a bunch of season left, but not a ton,” Sharks center Nick Bonino said after Sunday’s 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. “Lose these games and you run out of time.” In the eight-game skid, the Sharks scored just 14 goals, managing more than two goals in a game just once. They lost winnable games to Los Angeles and Anaheim and continued to struggle against playoff-bound teams like Minnesota and Vegas.
“ being out obviously hurts us, but we’ve got to fight through it. We’ve got a game in Anaheim and we’ve got to find a way to try and get two points out of that and stay in the fight.”
