Shaughna Phillips kept herself conscious with bite of chocolate during extreme 500-cal diet
While it's no secret Shaughna Phillips is all about body confidence and embracing "what you've got", the road to accepting her image hasn't been a simple one. Not only has she confessed to suffering from body dysmorphia during her time on the hit ITV dating programme Love Island back in 2020, but the reality star has also revealed she has been on a diet since she was a teenager, until recently.
Lead author Dr Francesca Solmi wrote in the published findings: "An increase in dieting among young people is concerning because experimental studies have found that dieting is generally ineffective in the long term at reducing body weight in adolescents, but can instead have greater impacts on mental health. We know, for instance, that dieting is a strong risk factor in the development of eating disorders.
"I used to carry around like a chocolate bar in my bag if I ever felt very faint. And I'd have a bite of the chocolate bar to keep me conscious, which is just ridiculous," she added. Become an OK!
