The team behind the Shawlands Arcade development have welcomed the decision to allow their £150 million project to go-ahead. The first phase will see 329 new flats created.
Developers have said that the £150 million development of the Shawlands Arcade will 'meet the needs of modern-day Shawlands' and alleviate a rental shortage.
Streetscape improvements to Kilmarnock Road and improved pedestrianisation of the area are also included in the first phase of the proposals. "Centered on meeting the needs of modern-day Shawlands, the proposals involve the construction of much-needed new rental homes, modern retail units, and carefully thought-out public spaces, in place of the old 1960s Arcade.
