Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who just days ago backed Gladys Berejiklian for Warringah, now says he does not expect the former NSW premier to nominate | michaelkoziol JacquelineMaley
Gladys Berejiklian is expected to rule herself out of running for the federal seat of Warringah amid mounting pressure to make her position known, while her successor as NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet criticised federal colleagues for undermining public confidence in the corruption watchdog.
“That’s a decision for Gladys ultimately, and she may choose not to go ahead here, I suspect,” he said.Several senior Liberals at a state level – who did not want to be identified – suggested Mr Morrison and others were using efforts to recruit Ms Berejiklian as a deliberate distraction from the federal government’s poor polling, Labor’s major policy announcements and the campaign launches of several independents.
On Wednesday Mr Perrottet told the National Press Club he did not agree with Mr Falinksi’s views and the ICAC played a vital role in preventing and uncovering corruption.
