New South Wales-based parents have had to rely on local politicians to help them gain access to their children in Queensland hospitals.

Four-year-old Charlotte Jones is fighting for her life in the Queensland Children's Hospital, while her New South Wales-based father is reapplying for an exemption to visit her without having to quarantine for 14 days.

"The hospital only allows two-hour visits — I'll do two hours every day if I have to," Mr Jones said."I have to reapply to go back up there now. It's heartbreaking." "The people who have the stethoscopes around their necks are under direction from the Queensland Government, they're making decisions which they know are absurd," Mr Hogan said.

In frustration, they posted a plea for help on Facebook and Mr Cox said it was Mr Hogan's intervention that resulted in the Gold Coast University Hospital allowing him to see his daughter about 36 hours after she was first admitted.
