The appointment of Cecile Wake comes amid a turbulent time for Australia’s gas production sector, which is coming under pressure on prices and emissions.
Shell Australia has named Cecile Wake, the head of its Arrow Energy business in Queensland, as its new chairwoman after Tony Nunan was promoted to a senior role in London reporting to global chief Wael Sawan.but will in future head up the energy giant’s entire Australian operation, which includes major LNG interests in Western Australia as well as a large presence in both export LNG and domestic gas in the troubled east coast market.

Replacing Ms Wake as chief executive of Arrow Energy will be Godson Njoku, a former head of Shell in Gabon who most recently has been senior vice president of Shell Australia East.
