Shell has withdrawn threats to lock out the workforce on its floating LNG vessel the Prelude just as unions extend crippling work bans until mid-August.

“The safety of all people on site and integrity of the facility remains our priority. For people on board doing partial work due to the work bans in place, their pay will continue to be prorated,” she said. The Alliance said that neither Shell nor Prelude had spoken to the union about the lockout or asked what workers would do during one.

On the same day as the scheduled lockout, the Electrical Trades Union notified Shell its members would extend their 50 stoppages and work bans from August 5 to August 11.and the work bans include refusing to transfer hydrocarbons onto offtake tankers.
