Sheridan Smith is set to make a return to the BBC for one of the broadcaster's biggest shows - and it will also see her work with ex-boyfriend James Corden
Sheridan Smith is on the verge of signing a deal to star in the final episode of Gavin and Stacey, according to insiders. The narrative that James Corden and Ruth Jones have crafted for the grand finale reportedly includes Sheridan's character Ruth 'Rudi' Smith
"But all of the stops are being pulled out to make sure the whole cast are there, and in the coming weeks the production team hope to pin down everyone’s availability. Sheridan and James are still friendly - they recently bumped into each other at the Variety Club Awards and got on really well. So the hope is that she will be able to be part of it.
The comedy highlighted the tricky love life struggles between the leading pair with families divided by the geographical gulf from Billericay, Essex, to Barry Island in Wales. Stand-out actress Sheridan Smith also struck a chord with viewers as she played Smithy's chatty sister, Rudi - a character who annoyingly insisted on going by the same name, Smithy.
