Nathan Cleary got the chance to explain his actions after Andrew Johns blasts his 'dangerous' tackle on Billy Walters.
Penrith star Nathan Cleary has revealed what he said to Brisbane's Billy Walters after performing a tackle which earned the halfback a penalty and an NRL fine.
Cleary wrapped his leg around Walters and pulled him to the ground on Friday night, an illegal manoeuvre which had potential to seriously injure the Broncos player."I think it's dangerous, I think it's really dangerous," Johns said. Johns repeated that criticism on Sunday's Footy Show, and had Cleary sitting next to him on the panel to respond."I rushed out and tried to take him to the ground. It was poor technique - as soon as my leg came off the ground anything could've happened from there."I was apologising straight away. I felt it get awkward and his leg get trapped. I was trying to see if he was all right.
