A reported gunman roaming Gold Coast streets, sparking a major manhunt, has been revealed to be a 12-year-old boy carrying a gel blaster. 7NEWS
Police found the suspect soon after and took him into custody without incident.The boy was charged with going armed to cause fear.
He is being dealt with under the Youth Justice Act, which provides authorities with diversionary options such as restorative justice.Police have recommended the state government legislate so gel blaster be concealed when carried in public due to their close resemblance to real guns.
