A shopper apprehended a 13-year-old boy suspected of stabbing a 63-year-old Coles worker in Ipswich, Queensland. The victim is recovering after being rushed to hospital in critical condition.
A shopper, Lee McCann, chased a 13-year-old boy after witnessing an alleged stabbing at a Coles supermarket in Yamanto Central, Ipswich , on Monday. The incident involved 63-year-old Claudia Campomayor, a supermarket worker who was critically injured. McCann, who responded to the screams coming from the supermarket, saw two men running out of the store and followed one of them.
He questioned the teenager about why he was running, and the boy, who appeared scared, claimed he had seen someone stab another person. McCann then noticed Campomayor on the floor with a knife in her back. He apprehended the teenage suspect and waited for police to arrive. Campomayor was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition. However, in a positive development, she regained consciousness and briefly spoke with her son as she began her recovery.The accused teenager was taken into custody by Queensland Police Service, who are investigating the incident as an attempted murder. The motive behind the alleged stabbing remains unclear.
