Time-outs have recently been subject to controversy over their effectiveness. Now a wide-ranging study has found they work well on most children, if done properly.

A psychiatrist in the US wrote a book about brain development in children. It was put in Time Magazine as"Time-outs are hurting your child", and this idea got out of the box.

The evidence shows exactly the opposite. That it actually is very, very effective and makes these children much happier and more regulated. So if you put a child on their own they're going to have their attachment bonds threatened and then the child will be retraumatised.
