Cursed items in BG3 can be helpful and harmful.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Cursed items sound ominous in Baldur's Gate 3, but these mysterious artifacts can actually be quite useful if applied correctly. It's not every day in the Forgotten Realms that the party comes across a cursed item. They're exceedingly rare, and are often secreted away behind closed doors. And even after the party's gotten their hands on one, it can be next to impossible to know what to do with them.
How Cursed Items Work In Baldur's Gate 3 Every cursed item is different. For one thing, most of them mix benefits and detriments that make the decision of whether to use them a difficult one. For example, the party might come across an item that applies a powerful attack bonus to their pets, but then turns them hostile to all living things. Other cursed items might just exist to sow chaos, like those that make the wearer go berserk and immediately attack the rest of the party.
How To Know Which Cursed Items To Use In Baldur's Gate 3 In order to determine whether a cursed item is actually useful, the party should first learn what its effects are. However, cursed items don't always reveal all their properties in the equipment menu like the average magic amulet does. The easiest way to find out what a cursed item does is to use the spell identify.
Fortunately, remove curse can be learned by a wide variety of magically-capable classes: clerics, warlocks, wizards, and Oath of Devotion paladins in Baldur's Gate 3. That means Shadowheart, Wyll, and Gale can all pick it up, along with any player character of those classes. Once cast, this spell immediately removes any curse or hex placed on the target, included those imposed by cursed items, allowing the target to unequip whatever was bound to them.
