The former Crystal Palace chairman has litle time for Willy Gnonto being unavaible to play for Leeds United
Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has blasted Leeds United forward Willy Gnonto after the Italian forward was not available for the Whites' last two games.
The 19-year-old missed the Carabao Cup win over Shrewsbury and last Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City after the club confirmed to the player and representatives that they did not intend to sell him this summer. Both Everton and Burnley have been linked for a move for the Italian international, with the Toffees thought to be ready to make a third bid.
It has left Leeds perilously short of attacking options, and Jordan was clear on his thoughts on the situation - urging Gnonto to 'pull a shirt on and get on with it'. “A player signs a contract for two reasons," Jordan told talkSPORT. "One, because it preserves their livelihood. The other because it preserves the club’s position to either hold the player to a contract or subsequently sell him.“Often you get into a situation where one party, and often it’s the player, can’t get what he wants, in this case it is Gnonto. It is really poor.
“I mean, God forbid that he ever actually has any real adversity in his life. Because it’s such a terrible thing that he is having to stay at a massive football club like Leeds and pick up a really decent salary. The views are likely to go down well with the majority of Leeds United fans who have seen a host of players leave the club following relegation from the Premier League.
