Finance Minister Katy Gallagher says the single parent payment support extension will be a “significant improvement” for many women across Australia.
“Obviously women’s groups have been advocating for this as they are the vast majority of single parent households in this country for a long time,” Ms Gallagher told Sky News Australia.
“We’ve worked hard to make room for it in the budget, I guess I know how important that payment is – I’ve lived on it – I spent a couple of years on that payment, and it certainly helped me get back on my feet.”
