Rio Ferdinand won six Premier League titles and the Champions League during his time at Manchester United, but even he needed certain traits ironed out by Sir Alex Ferguson
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has opened up about a negative trait that Sir Alex Ferguson had to coach out of him during his time at Old Trafford.
While Ferguson, now 82, would have berated other United players for not making themselves available, he also had to instruct Ferdinand to stop signalling his frustration with his body language. Reflecting on his experiences under Ferguson's unique management style, Ferdinand shared how the Scot coached this trait out of him, reports the Mirror.
Ferdinand shared this anecdote while in conversation with Portugal boss Roberto Martinez. The ex-Wigan Athletic and Everton chief concurred with Ferguson's point, yet expressed understanding for players who exhibit similar behaviours as Ferdinand did. "Okay, reduce the body language, but you shouldn't have to have that reaction. It's always managing that in a healthy way if you're happy to understand it."
