has increased its workers’ pay for the upcoming season, with ride operators set to receive $20 an hour on the busiest days at New Jersey’s largest theme park.
Ride operators will be paid $15 per hour for day shifts and $16 per hour for night shifts, but on Saturdays, holidays and at special events such a Fright Fest, those employees will be eligible for $16 or $18 an hour, according to Six Flags.As recently as 2019, pay for ride operators started at $12 an hour. “Currently, this pay scale only applies to ride operations. However, if the new program is successful, we may expand the program to include other departments,” the spokeswoman added.
In all, Six Flags wants to hire 4,000 workers from March 19 when the Wild Safari opened through Jan 1, 2023 when the theme park closes for the season, the spokeswoman said.
