A sixth person has been charged over an alleged bashing on two Melbourne policemen who were left severely battered and bruised.

The 26-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday night, following the incident at St Kilda on Sunday morning. The suspect has been granted bail, and is set to reappear in court in June.
