The Skoda Fabia has become more accessible for Australian buyers with the introduction of a new base-spec variant. The Fabia 85TSI Select offers a lower price point and a more approachable styling compared to the flagship Monte Carlo trim, making it a more competitive option in the hatchback segment.
The Skoda Fabia has received a price reduction for the 2025 model year, thanks to the introduction of a new base-spec variant. Upon its arrival in Australia in 2022, the current-generation Fabia was exclusively offered in the flagship Monte Carlo trim. Priced at nearly $40,000 drive-away, it commanded a higher price tag than the base Audi A1 and was nearly identical in price to the closely related Volkswagen Polo GTI.
These pricing strategies were reflected in its sales figures, with only 331 Fabias sold in 2024 compared to the Polo's 2154 units. However, in early 2024, Skoda announced its intention to introduce a more affordable Fabia variant Down Under, offering a price reduction of approximately $8,000. The new entry-level model, known as the Fabia 85TSI Select, features a smaller engine, fewer gears, and a more approachable styling aesthetic. This makes it a more compelling alternative to other hatchbacks in the $30,000 price bracket. The premium Fabia 110TSI Monte Carlo remains available, retaining its signature four-cylinder engine and aggressive styling. Key features of the Monte Carlo include unique sporty seats, larger infotainment and instrument displays, and various other comfort-oriented amenities such as dual-zone climate control and aluminum trim pieces. Additionally, it retains its sporty suspension setup and larger wheels, differentiating it from the more accessible Select model. The Fabia range now extends to two models in Australia, with the new base-spec Select aligning it more closely with cheaper hatchbacks like the Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Polo, and Mazda 3. Two turbocharged engines are available across the Fabia range: the lower-output 85TSI three-cylinder in the Select and the more powerful 110TSI four-cylinder in the Monte Carlo. Skoda backs its Fabia range with a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, as well as 12 months of roadside assistance. Servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first. Buyers have the option of purchasing a seven-year service pack with their new Fabia purchase, priced at $3650. The Skoda Fabia boasts a five-star ANCAP safety rating, based on Euro NCAP testing conducted in 2021
