Sky Sports apologise as Forest appalled at ‘crass and cruel’ sketch mocking Steve CooperSky Sports have apologised to Nottingham Forest after the club was ‘appalled’ by a comedy sketch mocking manager Steve Cooper and owner Evangelos Marinakis.

In a revival of Frank Skinner and David Baddiel’s Fantasy Football show, new hosts Elis James and Matt Lucas took aim at Nottingham Forest in a bit which has gone down terribly with both the club and their Sky bosses. The skit was based around the summer signing of Serge Aurier and showed James with his face alterred, with one eye almost closed, in an attempt to look like Cooper and raise a laugh.

James is seen handing Aurier a shirt with the number 4,345, poking fun at the club after they signed more than 20 players in the summer. The Daily MailIt’s claimed that insiders in Sky’s football department were completely taken aback, particularly given their reliance on maintaining healthy relationships with Premier League clubs.‘For one thing it’s crass, not funny and cruel.

“It is now important that our focus is solely on football. As a group we are all concentrated and will do everything we can to help the team move up the league table and once again demonstrate our qualities that led us to the Premier League.”
