The New South Wales government will extend Anzac Day trading hour restrictions to allow residents to take their time to remember the sacrifices of Australian soldiers.
NSW supermarkets and major retailers to remain closed all of Anzac Day to 'really pause' and remember sacrifices of past and current servicemen and women
Smaller businesses and those not considered retailers, such as chemists, cafes, takeaway restaurants and newsagents, will be free to open for trade the whole day. The restricted hours will give those who would often work on April 25 time to participate in dawn services and pay their own respects. "It means pausing as a community – really pausing – to contemplate the sacrifices made in our name. Over more than a century, those sacrifices have made our great country possible. What’s more, those sacrifices continue to this day.NSW Premier Chris Minns said it will allow residents to pause all day and remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices of past and current soldiers.
Mr Minns said"the least we can do" is give past and current servicemen and woman"a full day of thanks" for their sacrifices.
