Far Northern California and the Sierra Nevada are more likely than other areas to see precipitation. While earlier reports indicated the San Francisco Bay Area had up to a 30% chance of rain this weekend, the latest forecast from the National Weather Service shows the likelihood decreasing. “We may get some drizzle in a few spots on Saturday,” said Brayden Murdock, a forecaster with the weather service’s Bay Area office. “I think the highest rainfall total that I have on the map is a hundredth of an inch. Not anything to write home about.”
The system will be moving in a southerly direction into Northern California, but just before it reaches the Bay Area, it will head east. “We’re right at that pivot point,” he said. The bigger weather story in the Bay Area this weekend will be cooler temperatures and windier conditions. Inland areas will drop from peak afternoon highs in the 80s and 90s on Wednesday to low to mid-70s by Saturday. Coastal locations are expected to be in the 60s on Saturday.
