The SNP has said that more than £50 billion "wasted" by the UK Government could fund millions of police officers, nurses or build over 100 hospitals.
The party's health spokesperson in London Amy Callaghan said the UK Government had shown a "complete disregard for people's hard earned money and our vital public services." The party said the cost of just the cancellation phases of the HS2 project - £2.2 billion of costs that cannot be recovered - could have funded around 73,000 nurses or police constables, or built four new hospitals in Scotland.
