The tour operator who helped an Australian man summit Mount Everest has revealed his final moments, as his family shared their heartbreak in the wake of his death.
Jason Kennison reached the summit on Friday but “suddenly fell ill” during his descent down Mt Everest after the fundraising climb.
As the oxygen cylinders they had with them began running out, the two Sherpa guides with him decided to descend to a lower camp to bring back more bottles to rescue him. "He said, 'Mum we're doing the big walk to the summit at night', and I couldn't hear what he was saying, and he said, 'I'll see you when I get back,” Gill told reporters on Monday.
