Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made a secret visit to Uvalde, Texas, to meet the family of Irma Garcia, a teacher who lost her life in a tragic school shooting that shocked the United States.

Ms Garcia was one of those killed in the shooting on May 24, 2022 at Robb Elementary School, where two teachers and 19 kids were tragically murdered by a gunman who previously attended the school. In a devasting twist, Ms Garcia’s husband died from a heart attack two days later, leaving their four children orphaned. The horror event sparked renewed debate about America’s gun control laws and Congress passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act a month later, the most significant federal gun reform legislation since the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994. The Duchess of Sussex first met the family of Ms Garcia during a largely incognito visit to Uvalde shortly after the shooting in 2022.
