The NSW Deputy Premier has admitted she wasn't briefed about a pro-Palestine rally at the Sydney Opera House in the hours leading up to the divisive protest, despite acting as the state leader on the day.
During a tense senate estimates on Tuesday, Labor MP Prue Car was grilled over her knowledge of the October 9 protest, where some attendees burned the Israeli flag and shouted anti-Semitic slurs.
"I want to know, when were you first advised about that rally taking place. We you briefed prior to your press conference?" Ms Mitchell asked Ms Car during the budget estimates hearing.Ms Mitchell then explained the question in more detail. Some protesters could be heard chanting anti-Semitic slurs like"gas the Jews", while flares were set off from among the crowd.
Mr Minns later apologised for how the night transpired, adding he took"full responsibility" for the scenes that emerged during the protest.
