ECHO readers have paid tribute after the incident between Hall Road and Southport today
National Rail confirmed a person was hit by a train between Hall Road and Southport stations today. Merseyrail first started reporting disruption between Moorfields and Formby just before 4pm following an "incident on the line"
Emergency services were called to the scene, including an air ambulance. British Transport Police has now confirmed the person died at the scene, despite the best efforts of paramedics and police.READ MORE: Photos show how a heartbroken city grieved and remembered Olivia Pratt-Korbel A spokesperson from BTP said: "Officers were called to the line near Formby at 3.50pm today following reports of a casualty on the line. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.Following the tragic news ECHO readers took to the comments on Facebook to pay tribute to the person.
Irene said: "So sad. Thinking of and praying for their family and the train driver and the emergency services. R.I.P"Susan posted: "God bless them" and Mandy wrote: "So sad."
