Jill Jacobson, an actress known for starring in popular soap opera Falcon Crest and appearing in two Star Trek shows, has died aged 70. Jacobson died on December 8 in California after battling a long-term illness, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She began working in the 1970s in small movies and appearing in one-off episodes before she got her big break on Falcon Crest. Playing Erin Jones, Jacobson starred in 22 episodes between 1985 and 1987.

She then appeared in eight episodes of The New Gidget between 1986 and 1987, leading co-star Caryn Richman to tell the Hollywood Reporter Jacobson’s “comic timing was brilliant”. “Her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful,” she said. In 1989 she went on to appear in one episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation before then playing a different character seven years later on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
