LOS ANGELES --
Southern Californians are warned to take steps to stay out of the heat, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours and leave their pets at home. The valleys and Inland Empire will be even hotter, with a high of 98 degrees on Thursday. Temperatures will top 100 by the weekend and only drop to the upper 90s by Monday.
