The Socceroos are heading to a record fifth consecutive FIFA World Cup after a nail biting contest against Peru with the Aussies coming out victorious in a tight and tense penalty shoot-out.

The close match was forced to a shootout after the score was still locked at 0-0 after 120 minutes of regular and extra time.
