Adults and teens alike benefit from practical coaching to learn the differences between sharing and bragging as well as healthy and unhealthy online attention.. Setting healthy boundaries is important to prevent excessive screen time from cutting into necessary sleep and exercise.

Activities that intentionally increase human interaction foster connectivity. We must provide programs that give students and staff opportunities to interact face-to-face, thus building meaningful relationships. Real-life, guided interactions can also provide effective opportunities to discuss responsible social media use and share the positive ways that social media can be leveraged to support genuine connections and community growth.

It is possible to reframe social media interaction, shifting it from an isolating and competitive platform where people feel pressure to post content that generates lots of likes and positive comments to a diverse community where different viewpoints can be experienced and fresh sources of inspiration can be discovered — all in healthy moderation.
