Slowik, whose father Bob Slowik coached 19 years in the NFL, including 10 as a coordinator, has just four seasons as an offensive assistant, all with the 49ers.He has never run an offense nor called plays, but Ryans certainly respects his ability. The two have coached together since joining the San Francisco staff as defensive quality control coaches in 2017.
The Texans were so pitiful offensively that they will be better next year just because it will be difficult to be worse. How much better they will be is as much dependent on upgrades in personnel as it is on Slowik’s play-calling acumen.
