Cricket fans at the fifth Ashes Test have infuriated former Australian captain Ricky Ponting by pelting grapes at him while he was speaking on live TV after the first day's play at The Oval.
Captain Pat Cummins won his first toss of the series and sent England in to bat with the hosts getting off to a flying start.
In a swinging opening innings England were soon on top again with Moeen Ali and Harry Brook combining for a 111 run partnership before the spinner was dismissed leaving the score at 4/184. The Australians had a tricky couple of hours to navigate before the end of the day’s play and got off to a positive start before David Warner edged a Chris Woakes delivery and was out for 24.Despite owning the day Cummins will be disappointed with his side’s fielding performance as there were five dropped catches and a missed run out which let the English off the hook.
