NRL: Parramatta Eels are reportedly days away from confirming their signing of Josh Addo-Carr.
Roosters star Dom Young has admitted he’s “always been open” to a code switch to rugby union and revealed he “seriously” considered it prior to joining the NRL.
“Obviously I’ve got a few more years here at the Roosters before I need to think about something like that.”The 23-year-old has already represented England six times in rugby league and could become a dual-international if he was to move to the 15-man code.After making his English Super League at just 17-years old, Young went on to sign his first NRL deal with the Knights, where he made a name for himself as a try-scoring machine that boasts plenty of speed too.
“It’s something I considered very seriously, but I ended up sticking with league. It’s what I’ve been playing all my life, so at the time I thought I’d stick with that. “I haven’t spent a lot of time watching , to be honest. I haven’t played too much of it either, so it would be a bit of an adjustment period for me if I was to go to union.“I haven’t put too much thought into it, and I’m not looking into it too seriously at the minute. I’ve still got a few more years at the Roosters.”Luckily for the Roosters — who have just lost Joseph Suaali’i and Joseph Manu to rugby union — Young is locked in until the end of 2027.
