Sony has announced that Helldivers 2 players will not need to connect a PSN account to Steam following backlash from the community.
This past weekend has been a tough one for Helldivers 2 players. Sony announced that all PC players would be required to connect a PSN account to Steam to keep playing the game. Unfortunately, only 70 countries in the world have access to PSN services, leaving millions unable to continue playing the game when this change comes into effect on May 30th. Because of this, Helldivers 2 was delisted for those in the 170+ affected countries with no way to purchase the game.
Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we’ll keep you updated on future plans.” This is fantastic news and shows that the community coming together to stand up against the announcement worked, as it would have meant that millions of players would have been locked out from the game permanently. It also looks like Sony may be rethinking whether future titles, such as the PC port of Ghost of Tsushima will need PSN too.
