Pumeza Mpati, a 33-year-old entrepreneur, stands in front of her new food truck in the suburb of Bridgemead in Gqeberha. ‘I started my career in IT but faced challenges finding employment in a tough job market,’ she says. In July, she purchased a food truck to sell hotdogs and burgers at markets. She also manages events, sells soap, creates flower arrangements and crafts corporate gift boxes.
